South-West Interconnected System Energy Balancing
The South-West Interconnected System.
The South-West Interconnected System connects the bulk of customers within Western Australia, with over 1 million connections. Although most power generation is performed with coal- and gas-fired power stations, 20% of households have installed solar panels.
We investigate the impact that higher renewables could have upon the SWIS, by taking real historical electricity demand data, along with real historical renewable resource data, to determine efficient power generation mixes and their probable cost.
